For more than three decades, island businesses, organizations, residents and visitors have gathered for one of Sanibel and Captiva’s most treasured annual events, the Luminary Festival.
* Complimentary Trolley Service on Sanibel
* Shopping
* Activities for the Entire Family
* Music & Food
* Holiday Golf Cart Parade on Captiva
Our tropical islands sparkle with illuminated candles from end to end as we mark the launch of the Holiday season.The complimentary trolley service brings guests to various shopping centers, island businesses and galleries along a Luminary Trail, where they can enjoy refreshments, music, holiday activities and sanibel island luminary photo – pathmost importantly, connect with the community.
During the Luminary celebrations, the streets will be lined with glowing luminaries, decorated trees and other festive trimmings. Santa will pay his traditional visit on his fire truck to visit shopping centers, galleries, and local businesses. Sanibel and Captiva visitors and local residents can enjoy these two magical nights on our islands.
Our seventh collectible commemorative ornament has been introduced for the season.
It depicts a vintage Cash Register. The first cash register was patented in 1879 by a Dayton, Ohio saloonkeeper who was fed up with having his employees steal from him. James Jacob Ritty’s “Incorruptible Cashier” proved to be the foundation for National Cash Register Company, known today as NCR. If you stopped by Bailey’s prior to the 1950’s, your groceries were ‘rung-up’ by a register very similar to the one shown here.
This ornament is available for purchase on our website here. It can also be ordered by calling the store at 239-472-1516 or purchased in person at the Service Desk. Also available are limited supplies of the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and ornaments.
Ornaments are $15 plus tax and $5.00 shipping per location.
Last year’s Baileyfest featured solo singers, bands and groups, dancers, a roaming magician, food, games and plenty of surprises. This year it’s going to be BETTER!

Bailey’s General Store, located at 2477 Periwinkle Way and Bailey’s Marketplace, located at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, 1451 Middle Gulf Drive, will begin their annual “Throw FISH a Lifeline” campaign on Sun. Sept. 27, 2015. A display explaining about FISH and their food pantry needs will be located at the front of the Periwinkle Store, giving customers the option to add money, in $10 increments, to their grocery bill at checkout. “It’s as easy as 1 – 2- 3. Donating to the FISH food pantry to help our friends and neighbors has never been easier, just follow these simple steps: 1) Tear off the coupon located at the display or register; 2) Take the coupon to the register at either Bailey’s location when you are ready to check out, and 3) Sign the coupon and give to cashier when paying for your purchases. We’ll do the rest. We understand these times are difficult and many of our neighbors and friends are feeling the economic crunch. We will put your money to work as we order in volume to distribute necessities to the F.I.S.H. food pantry,” says Bailey’s Owners Mead and Richard Johnson. “FISH will be able to use the account credit purchase bulk groceries most needed for the food pantry at wholesale prices, helping FISH get more value for their donations.”
While the FISH food pantry receives the support of many islanders throughout the year, some food items are in high demand and are harder to keep in stock. This partnership with Bailey’s allows FISH to directly request the specific items needed in the pantry at the time of ordering. “The fact that people are willing to give is very healthy for our community,” says the Johnsons. “The dollars you give at the checkout really helps our island neighbors.”
“Bailey’s has been a great friend and neighbor to our organization for many years, offering abundant support in so many ways,” said Maggi Feiner, FISH President & CEO. “We are very grateful to Mead and Richard for coming up with this idea, and to the Bailey’s store and staff for encouraging customers to donate. This is the third year they have facilitated the Lifeline campaign, and we extend our sincere gratitude for their help.”
Freedom Ring presented by Innovative Health Magazine
Saturday, July 4th, 2015, 8:45am at the Flag Pole at Bailey’s General Store, 2477 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL
Innovative Health Magazine presents The Freedom Ring to an MOAA officer as a token of thanks for the service to our country. Please join us for this wonderful moment as we honor one the many veterans who have sacrificed so much so we may enjoy our freedom.
Innovative Health Magazine has found a unique way of giving back to our veterans with The Freedom Ring. With the goal to honor as many veterans and help as many veteran organizations as possible, Innovative Health Magazine launches The Freedom Ring. Encircling the ring is the phrase “FREEDOM IS NOT FREE”, engraved on the inside is their name, branch of service and date of service, or you can have a personal message engraved. If you honor a veteran by purchasing them a Freedom Ring, 50% of the net proceeds go to the veteran charity of your choice. This two fold effect allows you to honor a veteran and give to a veteran charity on their behalf. Innovative Health Magazine will have a float in the parade with Daniel Feckovic singing live a song he co-wrote “Half A World Away” about a female soldier going off to war from the husband’s perspective. Riding on the float will be soldiers from the local area.
